The Coalition for a Prosperous America told the House Subcommittee on Trade that the Industry's Trade Advisory Committee System (ITAC) needs to be altered to include more domestic producers to balance multinational corporation representation.  CPA Co-Chairs Brian O’Shaughnessy (Revere Copper Products), Joe Logan (Ohio Farmers Union) and Bob Baugh (AFL-CIO Industrial Union Council) submitted the written testimony for a July 21, 2009 hearing on the topic.

“Our massive trade deficit subtracts directly from gross domestic product,” said O’Shaughnessy.  “The deficit is disruptive, provides massive economic harm, and handicaps our ability to recover from a recession. Jobs, investment, companies and agricultural production have moved offshore as a result.  Fixing America’s economy requires a changed trade policy.”
