CPA letter to Dept of Commerce: National Trade Strategy

Congress passed, and the President signed, a bill called the COMPETES Act in the 111th Congress. The Act requires the Department of Commerce to create:

a national 10-year strategy to strengthen the innovative and competitive capacity of the Federal Government, State and local governments, United States institutions of higher education, and the private sector of the United States.

CPA sent the following letter, today, to the Department of Commerce on this national economic strategy.  Our ultimate focus was for America to achieve net exports.  A PDF copy of the letter is here.

CPA Welcomes Ian Fletcher as Senior Economist

The Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) is pleased to announce that Ian Fletcher will become a Senior Economist for the organization.  Fletcher is an economist and author focusing on international trade policy.

“CPA is pleased to have Ian on board,” said Michael Stumo, CEO of CPA.  “Our members and supporters know that current trade policy is broken.  It produces more harm than good.  Ian has not only detailed why free trade cannot benefit the U.S. in theory or practice, he has proposed extremely solid economic policy alternatives designed to produce prosperity.”
