Pat Choate's recent book, "Saving Capitalism," includes a chapter documenting how foreign value added taxes are harming our trade balance.  He includes substantial data in an appendix showing the tariff and subsidy impact of foreign VAT's on U.S. trade.  The Washington law firm of Stewart & Stewart compiled the data for Mr. Choate's book.
