The US has been losing jobs and wealth because we had no competitiveness strategy, instead relying upon a simplistic notion of free trade that failed. To achieve broadly shared prosperity in the US, we must win the international competition for good jobs, sustained real economic growth and prosperity with a national strategy to counter foreign mercantilism, balance trade and grow strong domestic supply chains.
