CPA Adds Trade Counsel and Industry Analyst to Staff

July 22, 2020

Washington. The Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA) has added two new staffers to its executive team. The new hires—Trade Counsel Charles Benoit and Industry Analyst Kenneth Rapoza—will help CPA improve its advocacy for domestic industry at a time when Americans are increasingly turning away from products made in China.

“CPA has made great strides in recent years and we’re very pleased to bring on Charles Benoit and Kenneth Rapoza to further expand our influence,” said CPA Chair Dan DiMicco. “Both men bring lengthy experience to the task of rebuilding domestic industry. We’re excited to see them join the fight, particularly as we look to decouple the U.S. economy from China.”

Chuck Benoit, who has represented clients on international trade issues in federal court and before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), served as outside counsel during negotiations for the U.S.-EU Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. He has also worked as an in-house trade counsel for General Electric.

Ken Rapoza is a veteran journalist who has worked for The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, and Dow Jones News. During the past decade, he covered trade, business, and investing for Forbes. Raised in a mill town in Massachusetts, Rapoza has a personal connection to saving U.S. industry. His opinions on the subject have appeared in USA Today and In These Times.

“We’re excited to bring Charles and Kenneth aboard,” said Michael Stumo, CEO of the CPA. “CPA has made tremendous headway in demonstrating that a new economic nationalism is needed to rebuild U.S. manufacturing and to restore U.S. farm prices. The American people are with us on this, and we’re ready to move into the next phase of our work. We look forward to Charles and Kenneth helping us work to restore prosperity throughout the nation.”
