Democratic Reps. Earl Blumenauer (OR) and Bill Pascrell (NJ) are vying for the chairmanship of the trade panel as the new Congress takes shape.
Blumenauer on Thursday said he would throw his hat into the ring “when it’s my turn,” adding that leadership decisions would be made sometime next week. Pascrell has also said he wants the job.
Pascrell, who also confirmed that the leadership of the subcommittee would be determined next week, said Ways & Means Committee members were meeting with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin on Thursday to discuss whether sanctions should be eased on businesses tied to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
